This class is actually a Reading Strategies class, designed for students who almost passed or just barely passed the SOL reading class at the end of last year. Our goal is to make sure these students have the skills and can employ strategies to pass the eighth grade Reading SOL and deal successfully with high school reading requirements. Instruction will focus mainly on reading non-fiction. Students will be pre and post tested. At the close of the nine weeks, those students who still don't appear to be prepared to pass the upcoming SOL may be scheduled to return to class during the fourth quarter for high intensity preparation for the Reading SOl at the end of May.
Class Announcements HomeworkAll students should pick up a home reading log each Monday from the basket containing their classwork folders. The completed reading logs should be turned in each Friday or no later than the following Monday. Extra credit will be awarded for extra reading.
